Educational background and Clinical experience: Alex attended the University of Colorado in Boulder where she graduated in 2016 with a BA in International Relations with a concentration in Latin America. During Alex’s time at CU, she was an active volunteer with the non-profit organization, Health Outreach for Latin America (HOLA), going on many trips to Nicaragua to help open medical and veterinary clinics. With her experience in HOLA, Alex then fell in love with medicine. After graduating from CU Boulder, Alex received her EMT license and worked as an EMT in the Emergency Department at Denver Health Hospital for 3 years. She worked in the Emergency Room during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic before she was accepted to the Physician Assistant program at Rocky Vista University in the Fall of 2020. Alex then graduated with a master’s degree in physician assistant studies in 2022 and began working at Eating Recovery Center and Pathlight Mood and Anxiety in January 2023. While at ERC and Pathlight, Alex worked in many specialties including the adult mood and anxiety partial hospitalization program and the child and adolescent inpatient eating disorder program. With these patients, Alex treated a variety of mental health disorders while also working closely to collaborate with the other members of the treatment team including dieticians, nurses, therapists, and many other specialties. Alex then chose to move into the world of outpatient mental health in the fall of 2024
Areas of expertise: Alex’s passion in working with patients of all ages and diagnoses is exemplified by the variety of locations in which she has treated patients since the start of her career in the medical field. With Alex’s unique experience treating eating disorders and other mental health diagnoses, she is especially talented at collaborating with other outpatient providers when treating both pediatric patients and adult patients.
Personal: Alex grew up in Monterey, California and feels deep appreciation for being raised in an incredibly beautiful part of the world. Alex and her family ‘s love of travel and experiencing different cultures brought her and her family to many different countries including Cape Town, South African where she lived for her entire freshman year of high school. Although Alex spent her childhood on the beach, she left the bay and moved to Colorado in 2012 to attend CU Boulder. Alex’s love for the ocean has not been forgotten but her appreciation for the mountains and all related activities has since flourished. As a provider, Alex decided to go into the field of mental health after one of her mentors noticed her innate ability to truly listen while helping her patients feel valued and understood. Since then, Alex has developed her role as a Physician Assistant who is patient, empathetic, and passionate about caring for her patients.
