Susmita Hazarika, MD

Dr Susmita Hazarika is a board-certified Psychiatrist who completed her Psychiatry residency from Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, North Carolina. She grew up in the north eastern part of India, and completed her medical school at Gauhati medical college, followed by psychiatry residency at Silchar Medical College before moving to the US. She has expertise in treating patients with various psychopathologies which includes mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, personality disorders, ADHD and behavioral issues associated with other medical conditions. She believes in adopting individual treatment plans tailored to meet the requirements of patients based on their presentations and goals. She adopts an approach which combines evidence based psychopharmacology alongside supportive, cognitive behavioral and individualized psychotherapy. She has a special interest in women mental health issues including peripartum and postpartum mood disorders. Patients can expect to find an environment which is secured and free of judgements where they can take an active role in achieving their desired goals. With her vast and diverse clinical experience, she can help with the cross-cultural psychiatric issues experienced by people of multi-cultural origin.
